Incorporated in 1917 by Harry Culver, Culver City was home of MGM Studios and Hughes Aircraft Company. Sony Pictures Entertainment and National Public Radio West are headquartered here. And the NFL Network studio is also in Culver City. Culver City has its own fire and police departments.

Culver City Unified School District is one of the most sought after public school districts. CCUSD primarily consists of five elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school and are ranked among the best in Los Angeles.
